Abridged History

The first outbreaks of what would come to be known as “The Plague” happened the evening of December 9, 1905. The very nature of life and death changed when the dead came back to a hungry form of life. The world was not prepared. The results were devastating. The vast majority of the worlds population was lost in The Plague Years.

The Royal Military took a drastic approach. They bombarded the cities of England with ordinance to destroy the concentrations of the walking dead. In the process they set fire to and destroyed huge swaths of the cities, including but not limited to the entirety of London to the north of the Thames River. Humanity survived in isolated outposts, refugee camps, and some of the industrial complexes that the workers were able to fortify against the predators that their own dead had become. Concerted efforts to clear the countryside of the dead, dubbed Animates, was not able to begin until 1914. By 1927 most of the English countryside is believed to be mostly free of animates.

King Edward VIII declares The Plague Years over in 1933 and marks the beginning of The Reclamation.
